Counting Calories is Not Enough if You Want to Lose Weight

By Ricardo d Argence

A diet that doesn't result in weight loss can be very frustrating. You are dieting, counting calories, and cutting back the way you are supposed to. And if that was not bad enough the person you spend most your time with, your closest friend, can eat what ever she desires without gaining a pound.

Perhaps you've concluded you are genetically predisposed to be curvy. A more likely explanation is that you are eating the wrong combination of foods, while those ideas may be a remote possibility.

Do not have a thought that what you consume daily is what makes you thin or fat. Burning fat calories as energy before it turns to fat on your thighs, you must supply your body with the nutrients it needs in order to work like a well-oiled machine.

It's necessary to understand why a well-balanced diet is important and why eating food from every group is necessary. After we understand our bodies' nutritional needs, we can design a diet that helps us lose weight permanently.

There are several types of calories we need to eat on a daily basis, specifically, three. These are protein, carbohydrates, and fat. Not all in the same proportions at each meal, but your body requires all 3 types of calories. While some of the fat free foods you consume can cause weight gain if eaten too often, believe it or not, some fat calories can actually accelerate weight loss.

Sugar is commonly found in fat free foods. One of the reasons for fat storage in our body is due to excess intake of sugar which the body does not burn and in turn it accumulates as fat.

It's a common belief that fat-free foods are safe because eating fat is a bad thing. When you consume fat calories they do not turn directly into fat on your body, the truth is that. When you eat fat free foods, you will not automatically lose weight either. Become receptive to a different way of dieting and to lose weight you must understand this fact.

Realizing which foods have fat-burning properties while keeping your blood sugar constant is the first step to losing weight -- and quickly. Foods that cause your blood sugar level to rise suddenly lead to a short energy boost followed by a devastating crash. This crash occurs when the blood sugar level drops too low, leaving you tired and hungry once again. The lower it drops after the spike, the higher the blood sugar level rises after eating. This is the primary reason that overweight people see their energy levels fluctuate throughout the day.

Our bodies need calories from each group to provide fuel for the body. Any calories that are consumed and not used for fuel will be stored as fat. Whether they are calories from protein, fat or carbohydrates, if they are not used, they will be stored.

It is important to eat the right calories, in the right combination and at the right time in order for the body to function at its best. If we give our body what it needs we can turn on the power of the natural fat burning engine that resides within everybody. - 17943
